Who the Bleep Has Time for Self-care?

Is the stress of your big dream taking a toll on you?Self-care, really?

The pace at which you’re working, the long hours, stress upon stress, has definitely taken a toll. You might notice that you look a little more haggard when you look in the mirror. A few extra pounds have deposited themselves.

Too frequent headaches, catching colds, rocky sleep, cranky moods…

You’ve also noticed that you’re not having the fun you expected to have from following this dream. Whether it’s your business, a dream job, a return to school, or a creative endeavor, you really didn’t expect to feel so stressed.

Things that you know and trust about yourself—maybe your creativity, your compassion, your memory, or your endurance, have waned.

Some days you even wonder why you’re doing this.

In the process your dream has gotten dinged up. Maybe income is down, you’ve forgotten appointments, missed deadlines, lost clients or employees…

You’re definitely not on you’re A-game and that troubles you.

Who the Bleep?

I know what you’re thinking. You know taking care of yourself is a good idea. You see the negative results of not making yourself a priority. But with everything on your plate it’s not going to happen.

At least not in a big way.

There are just too many other priorities.

You tell yourself you’ll make it a priority when…

It might be when this project is over, after the holidays, but it’s always when.

You make a few changes for a while.

And then notice you’re back to your old habits.

If you continue on the path of making everything else a priority instead of taking care of you things will get worse.

I watched that happen to a friend of mine a couple of months ago. As a writer, international trainer, and therapist she touched many lives. Now recovering from a stroke she can’t do her work for a while. Not only do she and her family suffer, so do the clients and students who would benefit from her work.

 But I Don’t Have Time

Don’t worry. I’m not going to suggest you add one more thing to your to-do list. It’s not about working harder, being more disciplined, or hitting the gym more often.

You also don’t have to give up on your dream.

Instead you need to hit the reset button on your life.

You may do healing work, coaching, or counseling. Maybe you’re an artist or building your business empire. No matter what you’re doing I know you’re one smart cookie with a bunch of personal growth tools. This is not your first time around the block.

With all you know you might feel like you should be able to hit the reset button all by yourself. You might even feel shame or embarrassment about landing in this place of overwhelm and burnout. Shouldn’t you be able to fix this?

Here’s the deal. You can’t. You can’t see the forest for the trees and frankly you’re lost in that forest. You’re subconsciously sabotaging yourself. You need a trusted guide to lead you back to your path.

What Would a ½ Day Devoted to YOU Mean for Your Life?

Think of this as CPR for you and your dream. A ½ day devoted to letting go of the things that aren’t working for you. A ½ day to reclaim you’re A-game, your energy.

Your nervous system needs a break. Not only will you get that during our time together, you’ll learn some easy to incorporate tools that fit into a busy person’s life.

Your energy system also needs some clearing. Part of our time together will be “house cleaning” for your energy field. Sometimes it’s not even your energy that’s making you feel frazzled, distracted, or ready to quit, but rather energy you picked up along the way. Without releasing, reclaiming, and realigning your energy system you won’t feel better.

We’ll uncover your blind spots, the places that keep you stuck and unhappy repeating the same old patterns.

You’ll go from not trusting where you’re headed to a calm trust of your path.

You’ll walk away with your first steps, not some one-size-fits-all-intended-for-superhero plan, but YOUR steps. Doable, energizing, fit-in-your life steps.

With half a day devoted to sweet you you’ll get a saner, more relaxed way of being in your life. And you deserve that.

But Wait There’s More…

Look, I’m not going to tell you that together we can completely change your life in four hours. I’m not going to say you’ll lose 20 pounds, increase your income by $100,000, or find the love of your life in our ½ day together.

But I can promise you that your sense of hope will be renewed. You’ll feel renewed and refreshed, like you’ve had a mini spa day.

You’ll feel ready to begin again, like you’ve come home to yourself. You know those pieces that have been missing? That easy smile, your compassion, your creativity? Yep, they’ve been AWOL, but they’ll return home.

But What Will That Get Me?

All this translates into a business and life that run more smoothly.

You’ll find it easier to make decisions that have been blocking you.

Your relationships will feel easier.

Your health will improve.

And you’ll have more energy and a lot more fun.

And these results will stay with you beyond your four hours. That’s because you won’t just be hanging out a spa. You’ll be uncovering your secret language of self-care.

I’m Sharon Roemmel, a well life coach. For over 20 years I’ve been teaching yoga, practicing massage, energy work, and aromatherapy. I also lead local and international retreats. Having spent my adult life in the helping professions of social work and massage therapy I know the land of burnout first hand. I’ve returned from the dark side and I can help you see the light, make that your light, again just as I’ve helped many others.

Ps. If you’re so burned out that the smoke alarm keeps going off, you might find it hard to know what to do next. Your cynic is the only part not scorched and she’s not feeling hopeful.

I get it. I’ve worked with women who felt just as crispy around the edges as you feel. That first step of saying, “I need a change and this is it” can be hard. But you know that continuing like you are is a no-win, potentially dangerous situation.

Pss. If you don’t believe you deserve time devoted to you, what about those who look to you for guidance and support, maybe even groceries on the table? Your family, your clients, your friends, your community… As long as you sabotage yourself they won’t get the best of your brilliant gifts. Believe in yourself enough to commit to your own personal retreat.
