PURPOSEFUL YOGA RETREAT

Wake up with yoga, the sunrise, and the sound of the ocean. Actually, if you want coffee you can wake up to a tray delivered to your bungalow first. Whether your idea of a delicious breakfast is a green smoothie, a Mexican specialty like chilaquiles, or eggs and bacon with fresh papaya and pineapple you’ll be fueled for the day.
What that day includes is up to you. Maybe you’re ready for kayaking, hiking to a cave, or a horseback ride on the beach. Or perhaps getting a massage, sitting by the pool sipping a just-cut coconut, or walking the empty beach sounds good.
Stepping out of your environment is one of the best tools for reframing how you’re doing life. It’s like getting a “do over.” Not only do you need time away from your normal routine, but you also get the most benefit from an approach that extends beyond the week of your retreat.

Your retreat includes:
- Seven nights of ocean view lodging double occupancy (unless you choose the single option for an extra fee.)
- Transportation to and from the airport (as long as we can coordinate times among travelers.)
- Two Daily yoga classes with meditation.
- An afternoon or evening coaching session most days. I always set a theme for the retreat and our coaching sessions usually center around that. We might do some EFT (energy tapping or some journaling or ???)
- Daily Free time for relaxation, socializing with the group, or playtime. Or maybe all three.
- A sandy quiet beach
- A private Facebook group to connect with and stay connected with other retreatants.
- And much more!!!
Where does all this awesomeness take place?
Where better to spend a week slowing down, going inward, and playing than a quiet coastal beach town? When I first visited this place in 2012 I kept saying, “this is a perfect place for a yoga retreat.” And it is!
We’ll be spending the week in the Troncones playa area of Mexico. Part of what makes this place so special is that, while they get tourists, it’s not overly touristy. You won’t find numerous tourist activities, scores of beachfront vendors, and tacky shops. No chain restaurants here.
What you will find is a small town that welcomes visitors along with a slower pace. You’ll also find good restaurants and fun activities.
Walk down the beach and you’ll discover the estuary filled with migratory and local birds. Kayak, try your hand at stand up paddleboarding (a great complement to yoga,) or take a surf lesson. How about a hike to a cave, boogie boarding, or relaxing in the hammock? Or you can horseback ride
down the beach and into the jungle. Or maybe you’d rather head into town for a little shopping.
Your week might include a cooking class from one of the local chefs or watching a turtle release.
Our home base will be a small resort with a handful of bungalows. The resort is situated on a stretch of beach without other hotels or resorts. Very quiet and restful.
Amenities include a pool, restaurant, hammocks, gorgeous grounds, and exceptionally good customer service. You’ll be able to get a massage, pedicure, or manicure all while enjoying the ocean breeze. You’ll also have access to wifi in the common areas. And did I mention that you’re just steps away from the beach where you can walk for miles?
And the yoga…
The yoga will be appropriate for all levels, even those brand new to yoga. You will need to be able to walk up stairs to get to the yoga space on the third floor. Our twice-daily classes focus on going inward, listening to what you need. Classes will be customized to your needs on a day-by-day basis. Also, no pressure if you want to skip a class.

You’ll also have the opportunity to provide service to the local community. In previous years we’ve brought books and school supplies for the local children and schools. We may do some beach clean up during the week too. These activities are also optional.
Life before and after…
Our journey together doesn’t begin or end the day of the retreat. You have a life before and after the retreat, right? Your retreat will include a couple of virtual pre-retreat meetings. You’ll begin to set your intention and to lay the groundwork for getting the most from your retreat with the help of a recorded mediation and our group time. You’ll get your questions answered as well as meet your fellow retreatants. And what about after you get home? We’ll meet again to check-in on your transition to life with all those marvelous people who weren’t part of your retreat. You’ll have a chance to share your successes and challenges as well as ask questions.

Hi. I’m Sharon Roemmel, your guide and yoga teacher. I’m a registered e-RYT with Yoga Alliance and have been practicing yoga since the 70’s and teaching since 1993. My style is gentle with lots of permission to go at your own pace. In addition to leading retreats, I offer natural health lifestyle coaching, am a licensed massage therapist, and a certified aromatherapist.
